Gardener of the Year
This premier title is awarded to the gardener(s) judged to have the most impressive all-round garden.

Best Small Garden
Only gardens of not more than 800 square feet - for example, one measuring 40ft by 20ft - are eligible.

Best Front Garden

A well-designed and planted front garden is a joy to passers-by as well as the owner. It should be bright and cheerful. Only the garden at the front of the property is eligible for entry.

Best Patio

The patio should be a paved or similar area decorated with plants in containers. Marks will be given for plant quality, overall layout and how it integrates with the rest of the garden.

Best Container

Gardeners can enter either one, two or three containers, and they can be traditional - pots, tubs or window boxes - or more unconventional - such as wheelbarrows or anything that will hold plants.

Best Hanging Basket/Hanging Container

Gardeners can enter one or several baskets. The judges will be looking for well-planted and well cared for baskets.

Best Veg Plot

THE judges will be taking into account the range and quality of crops, as well as the overall cleanliness, layout and organisation of the plot.

Best Greenhouse/Conservatory

Lean-to or free-standing - every size and style is eligible. The judges will be looking at the quality and diversity of the plants and their overall display.

Best Pub/Hotel Garden

The judges will be looking for an attractive area in which customers can relax and one which enhances the property or neighbourhood.

Best Newcomer

This category is open to anybody who has not won any Gardener of the Year prizes in the past. Extra marks will also be given to young, inexperienced and new gardeners.

Best Community Project
This category recognises initiatives in the community that help to promote gardening to a wider audience.

Unsung Hero
An individual who works in the community and helps to introduce new people to gardening, such as a volunteer who leads a school gardening project for example.
