Prune clematis ‘Freckles’ after it has flowered

My Clematis cirrhosa ‘Freckles’ is about to flower. When should it be pruned?

If you have to prune Clematis cirrhosa ‘Freckles’ at all, the best time is after flowering, usually April. An easy way to deal with mature specimens of this vigorous, but thin-stemmed variety, is to trim it back with shears in early spring and then to tie in the new leads as they grow.
