Advice on pruning climbing and rambling roses

When should I prune my climbing and rambling roses?

Many people like to get it done before the end of November, but anytime between November and the end of February should be fine. The reason for pruning early in winter is to reduce the risk of disease carry-over.
Leaves which are affected by black spot or rust are best removed and if you’ve already pruned and trained the plants, it is much easier to pick off any diseased leaves.
Be sure to clear up every scrap of rose material from the ground below the plants, particularly if they were diseased, and make sure the branches that remain are securely tied – but not strangled – to prevent wind damage.
